School Readiness

Preparing our children for Grade 1

School Readiness is not regarded as a separate issue at Oakwood, but rather an integral part of our curriculum, from the moment the child enters school. No matter what grade they join the school.

Our aim is always, to ensure that our children are as prepared, for the challenges of Grade 1, as possible.  To reach the maximum level of development that each child is capable of personally achieving.  Areas of development such as Fine and Gross Motor; Eye-Foot and Eye-Hand Co-ordination, Manual Dexterity and Social and Emotional Development are assessed and developed. 

We are very fortunate to be able to liase closely with our Educational Support Centre as far as these areas of development are concerned.  This is done in the hope that all children will ready to leave us at the end of their Grade 0 (R) year at Oakwood.
